Fiendish Brenna Yovanoff Books

I feel awful saying this but I didn't like it! I am a huge fan of Yovanoff but I guess I've read so many of her stories that this one easily fell to the bottom of the list.

If you have read her other works don't be discouraged to try this one out!! If you read the description and other people's thoughts then it might turn out that this is another spectacular read for you :]
I am still going to continue scooping up her novels but this happened not to hold my attention.
-Started so intensely then I just felt like it never climbed upwards
-I hate skipping ahead and risking missing important scenes but I skimmed a lot with this one until something big seemed to pop out
-Not much action
-The climax was very good and suspenseful and intense

Fiendish Brenna Yovanoff Books Reviews

Brenna Yovanoff is a master of creepy atmosphere and magical stories. I was hooked on her first novel The Replacement, and Fiendish feels like it exists in the same world. It was like going home, if home was a haunted house in a town seeped in magic and mistrust. LOVED IT!!
I fell in love with Brenna Yovanoff's "The Replacement" and have enjoyed watching(reading) her style grow and change with each novel since. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I saw that she was coming out with another book-- and with such a spooky premise!

Unfortunately, Yavonoff has not lived up to her well earned repuation. Fiendish falls rather flat. For all the potential magic, I find myself feeling "meh." Which is a terrible, terrible thing to say about an author I used to love.
I usually read a trilogy or series of books because I love details and backstories. That being said this was decently detailed for a standalone book. It was an easy read and enjoyable. I would have liked to have had more backstory on Isola and Emmaline growing up and why Magda gave up her daughter to be bound instead of Isola putting Fisher away. That is why I gave the story four stars instead of five. I love details.
I wish I could give this story 3.5 stars. While this story was extraordinary in it's unique, Brenna-type horror, it's beautifully crafted demons, human monstrosities, and forsaken protagonists... I simply needed more! It ended so abruptly that I wasn't entirely certain how to feel about the conclusion. This story and these characters deserve a sequel and with it a 5 star review.
The author is such an amazing storyteller and I can never seem to put any of her books down once I start reading. I love how twisted and interesting her plots are, and the characters are wonderfully unpredictable and vulnerable and real. The dialogue is crisp and the world-building amazing. Highly recommended!
Interesting story telling. It comes complete with its own language for magical people and a very original story. I would enjoy a follow up to this delightful little story that gets a bit more in detail about the back story of everyone's powers and family history since they are all so individual. My only complaint, and it is mild, is the southern speak that is inserted here and there throughout the story is not terribly consistent among the characters. Being a southerner it is a pet peeve of mine when trying to stylize a character as a southerner you don't quite hit all the right notes. As I said, this really is a mild complaint. Enjoyable read.
Clementine has been locked up for years. But suddenly she is free and determined to find out why she was magically locked up.

I enjoyed the world that was created. There were some really fun and unique elements to the story. I just felt that that the characters and the world was a bit flat. Areas that interested me, such as the fiends, were skimmed over leaving me wanting more detail. And I found the end very unsatisfying.
